Explore Asia: Exploring Asian Cultural Aesthetics
Exhibition Theme: The confirmation of reality and the curiosity about the unseen have given rise to the desire to create. The earliest artistic paintings of humanity appeared in the Late Paleolithic period, with the depiction of animal images and textures being the main content of the art of this era. Starting from recording, human cognition of the world is presented in different ways through images (patterns), leading to the development of diverse artistic media and forms of works.
The exhibition extracts two perspectives: symbolism and metaphor, starting from the subtle semantic differences between the words "image" and "likeness," and revisits the creations of artists across time, borders, and media. In their works, there is an ultimate expression of concrete objects, a pursuit of aesthetic style, and a spiritual detachment from concepts. The intertextual state of image and likeness is unified within the intention of the work's creation, and we are also allowed to glimpse the diverse ecology where Asian and global cultures blend in the eyes of the artists.
